Young Talent

De &lsquoYoung Talent&rsquo bartender-competitie biedt onervaren maar getalenteerde en gedreven bartenders de kans om te strijden tegen de beste bartenders van de wereld tijdens een wedstrijd op het hoogste niveau. Voorwaarde is dat zij maximaal één jaar ervaring achter de bar hebben. In de drie ronden van Bols Around The World strijden de jonge bartenders eerst tegen elkaar. Hierbij komen alle facetten van bartending aan de orde: smaak, kennis, techniek en persoonlijkheid. Zij worden tijdens deze voorronden en de finale begeleid door het Bols Bartending Academy-team.

 

Carrière boost

De beste &lsquoYoung Talent&rsquo bartender neemt het op tegen elf topbartenders uit de hele wereld tijdens de Bols Around the World-competitie. Tijdens de driedaagse wereldfinale worden de bartenders beoordeeld door een jury van grootheden uit de internationale &lsquobarscene&rsquo zoals Hidetsugu Ueno, Anistatia Miller, Jared Brown, Jeff Berry en Helmut Adam. Het deelnemen aan de competitie betekent een grote boost voor de carrière van het beginnende bartalent. De uiteindelijke winnaar van de Bols Around The World-competitie mag op een achtdaagse &lsquobartour&rsquo langs vier wereldsteden en krijgt twee dagen intensieve training in de Bols Bartending Academy. Zondag 25 september 2011 om 16:00 is het dan zover: De derde voorronde van het Bols NK Flairbartending 2012!

Dit zal dus ook de laatste mogelijkheid zijn voor bartenders om plaatsing voor het NK af te dwingen!

De aankomende wedstrijd zal plaats vinden op het terras van Stadscafé de Vooruitgang te Eindhoven. Er zal opnieuw een prijzenpot aanwezig zijn met als hoofdprijs bij de Pro''s: EURO 250,00!
De nummer 2 van de Pro?s ontvangt een cheque ter waarde van EURO 150,00.
De amateurs strijden voor de hoofdprijs van EURO100,00.

Titel Algemeen Visitor Guide with QR Codes
in 8 languages

Since the beginning of May all visitors will receive a personal "Visitor Guide" at the entrance. By using the guide, the self-guided tour becomes even more interactive and interesting with all the extra information in the guide. The "Visitor Guide" also includes several QR Codes which can be scanned by visitors with their smartphone. By scanning the codes, visitors will be linked to movies, applications and websites, which give the tour an extra dimension. Of course House of Bols offers free WiFi, so you can use it without any extra cost.

The "Visitor Guide" is available in English, Dutch, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Russian and Japanese.

A drink on the house
App Delftblue Houses
Since the 1950s, de KLM presents every World Class passenger with a unique gift a Delft Blue miniature traditional Dutch House, filled with Bols Genever, the traditional Dutch white spirit. In the early days there were some issues handing out the houses. According to strict international rules, only gifts with a maximum of 75 cents could be given to passengers. The Delft Blue House wasn&rsquot presented as a gift, but rather as a last drink on the house it just happened to be served in a miniature house. Fortunately the rules never mentioned that drinks had to be offered in a glass.

In cooperation with the KLM, the House of Bols created an App for the Delft Blue Houses. Two touchscreens in the Delftblueroom display an overview of all the 91 houses, including a picture and the history of each house. 		Titel Algemeen

On Tuesday 11 May Natalia Bovis a.k.a. the Liquid Muse trained the bartenders of the House of Bols and Trainers of the Bols Bartending Academy in Virgin cocktails. Natalie Bovis lives and works in Los Angeles and is a great expert on Virgin Cocktails. Her first book Preggatini&rsquos is not only a great book for consumers but inspiring for bartenders around the globe. What it is: Tales of the Cocktail is an annual 5-day event that takes place in the Monteleone Hotel located in the French Quarter, New Orleans. Since 2003, Tales of the Cocktail has hosted the top mixologists, bartenders, chefs and authors of the cocktail and culinary industry, resulting in the most influential gathering of bartenders in the world year after year.

 
Where it is: The French Quarter in New Orleans.
The narrow streets in the the French Quarter have a
lot of character and History. From the rise of the Sazerac
and the Ramos Gin Fizz to the original pharmacy of A.Peychaud`s
and Bourbon street with all the cool, bars that never close.
 
                                                                                                                      
What to do: There are loads of things to do with Tales of the cocktail:
The daily seminars, tastings & competitions were held in Hotel Monteleone
and Astor Crown Plaza. Up to five seminars are given at the same time so it is wise to check the program to see which seminars you want to attend.
Note on planning: book your seminar tickets a few months in front to ensure you have a seat in the seminars. (each seminar ticket costs $45, 00). For the exact program of the five day program please visit www.talesofthecocktail.com .
 
 
What else? Tales of the cocktail is not only about visiting seminars, tastings & competitions. The most important thing (I think) is meeting other bartenders and people from the trade to share knowledge and to get new inspiration. How? During the seminars you can have a drink in the famous Carousel Bar in Monteleone where everybody speaks with everybody. Big names such as Dale DeGroff, Ted Haigh, Robert Hess, Angus Winchester, Francesco Lafranconi (and many more) but also new talent coming from all parts of the world are up for a chat about what Tales of the Cocktail is all about.
Other great events to meet and greet other bartenders are the Spirited dinners, these are dinner’s witch you pay a $100, 00 for and you will get the best food combined with signature drinks from bartender legends especially designed for your course.
